TTTDSEA is a full-length split release featuring music from two of Melbourne’s longest
running underground heavy riff bands: Sons of the Ionian Sea (SOTIS) and TTTDC.
Sharing 3/4 same band members but with different drummers, this collective of heavy-
minded Melbourne musos (ex-Peeping Tom, ex-Wicked City) have been collaborating for
20+ years, gracing stages in various guises around the country in support of the world’s best
heavy underground bands (Electric Wizard, Acid King, Earthless, Clutch, Hard Ons, Church
of Misery, Witchskull and Tumbleweed – just to name a few).
Both bands’ decade-plus rock pedigree is on full display in TTTDSEA. Self-recorded over a
long weekend at a house in the Grampians and mastered by Nao Anzai (No Zu, Cash
Savage), TTTDSEA perfectly captures the collaborative spirit and unique voice of both
bands.
SOTIS’ half of the split lays down the brown toned ethno-blues sludge they have become
synonymous with in Melbourne’s heavy rock community; with lead singer Gerasimos’ unique
vocal stylings lending each tune a distinctive pop-flair and catchiness seldom heard among
riffs this heavy.
TTTDC’s half sees the band flexing their creative urge; conjuring memorable slabs of down-
tuned hook-laden sludge. From 8 minute psych-pop journey in ‘Still Comin’ Down’ to fiercely
coiled prog-dirge in ‘Daredevil’, they even find time for a take at Pentagrams 70s classic
‘Forever my Queen’.
